Privacy Policy for TransMizo
This Privacy Policy governs the manner in which TransMizo (referred to as "the App", "we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, maintains, and discloses information collected from users (each, a "User" or "you") of the TransMizo mobile application. This Privacy Policy applies to the App and all products and services offered by TransMizo.
1. Information We Collect
TransMizo is designed to provide translation services. We collect and process information to enable the App's functionality. The types of information collected include:
- Text Input: When you enter text for translation, this text is sent to our translation service provider (which may utilize third-party APIs like Google Translate) to perform the translation. This text is processed temporarily for the purpose of translation.
- Voice Input: If you use the voice input feature, your voice audio is sent to a speech-to-text service (provided by Google) to convert it into text, which is then translated. This audio is processed temporarily for transcription.
- Image/OCR Input: If you use the camera or photo selection feature for Optical Character Recognition (OCR), the image is sent to an OCR service (Google ML Kit) to extract text. This image is processed temporarily for text extraction.
- Translation History: Your translation queries (original text, translated text, source language, target language, and timestamp) are stored locally on your device using SharedPreferences. This history is not uploaded to our servers and is solely for your convenience within the App.
- Device Identifier (for Human Translation Requests): If you opt to use the "Ask a Real Person" feature, we collect a unique device identifier (specifically, your Android ID) to link your request to a specific device for potential follow-ups or answers. This ID is not linked to your personal identity.
- User-Provided Information (Human Translation Requests): If you submit a human translation request, you may optionally provide your name. This name, along with the translation details, will be stored in our Firebase Realtime Database.
- App Preferences: We store your selected source and target languages, and your dark mode preference, locally on your device using SharedPreferences.
- Usage Data (Firebase Analytics): We may use Firebase Analytics to collect anonymous usage data to understand how users interact with the App, identify trends, and improve the user experience. This data does not personally identify you.
- Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) Tokens: If you enable notifications, an FCM registration token is generated and used by Firebase to deliver notifications (e.g., for human translation request updates). This token is a unique identifier for your app instance on your device and is not linked to your personal identity.
- Advertising Data (Google AdMob): We use Google AdMob to display advertisements within the App. AdMob may collect and use certain information, including device identifiers (like Android Advertising ID), device type, operating system, IP address, and app usage data, to serve personalized ads and for ad measurement purposes.
2. How We Use Collected Information
TransMizo uses the collected information for the following purposes:
- To provide and improve translation services.
- To enable voice and image-based text input features.
- To manage your local translation history and app preferences.
- To facilitate the "Ask a Real Person" translation feature, including linking requests to your device and displaying answers.
- To send you notifications related to human translation requests (if enabled).
- To understand and analyze how you use our App and improve its functionality and user experience.
- To prevent fraudulent use of our services.
- To display advertisements relevant to your interests through Google AdMob and to measure the effectiveness of these ads.
3. How We Share Your Information
We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal identification information to others. We may share generic aggregated demographic information not linked to any personal identification information regarding visitors and users with our business partners, trusted affiliates, and advertisers for the purposes outlined above.
We may share your information with the following third-party service providers:
- Google Translate API: For core translation functionality (via our custom API).
- Google Speech-to-Text: For voice input transcription.
- Google ML Kit (Text Recognition): For OCR functionality from images.
- Firebase (Google):
- Firebase Realtime Database: Used to store human translation requests (source text, target language, machine translation, timestamp, device ID, and optionally user-provided name).
- Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM): Used for delivering notifications.
- Firebase Analytics: For anonymous app usage analysis.
- Google AdMob: For displaying advertisements. AdMob's data collection and usage are governed by Google's Privacy Policy, which can be found at https://policies.google.com/privacy. 4. Data Security
We adopt appropriate data collection, storage, and processing practices and security measures to protect against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction of your personal information, username, password, transaction information, and data stored on our App.
However, please be aware that no method of transmission over the Internet or method of electronic storage is 100% secure. While we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your information, we cannot guarantee its absolute security.
5. Data Retention
- Local Data (Translation History, Preferences): This data is stored on your device and will persist until you clear the App's data, uninstall the App, or manually delete history within the App (if such a feature is implemented).
- Human Translation Requests (Firebase): Data submitted via the "Ask a Real Person" feature is stored in our Firebase Realtime Database. We retain this data for as long as necessary to fulfill the purpose for which it was collected, or as required by law.
- Temporary Data (Text, Audio, Images for Translation/OCR): Data sent to third-party services for translation, speech-to-text, or OCR is processed temporarily and is not retained by us beyond the immediate need to provide the service.
- Advertising Data (Google AdMob): Data collected by Google AdMob is retained according to Google's data retention policies. For more information, please refer to Google's Privacy Policy.
6. Your Rights
As a user, you have certain rights regarding your data. These may include:
- Access: The right to request access to the data we hold about you.
- Rectification: The right to request correction of inaccurate or incomplete data.
- Erasure: The right to request deletion of your data (e.g., by clearing app data or uninstalling).
- Objection: The right to object to certain processing of your data.
- Opt-out of Personalized Ads: You can opt-out of personalized advertising by Google by visiting Google's Ads Settings. You may also be able to opt-out of some third-party vendors' uses of cookies for personalized advertising by visiting www.aboutads.info/choices/.
Please note that for locally stored data (like translation history), you can manage or delete it directly within the App or by clearing the App's data through your device settings.
7. Children's Privacy
TransMizo does not knowingly collect any personal identifiable information from children under the age of 13. If you think that your child provided this kind of information on our App, we strongly encourage you to contact us immediately and we will do our best efforts to promptly remove such information from our records.
8. Changes to This Privacy Policy
TransMizo has the discretion to update this privacy policy at any time. When we do, we will revise the updated date at the bottom of this page. We encourage Users to frequently check this page for any changes to stay informed about how we are helping to protect the personal information we collect. You acknowledge and agree that it is your responsibility to review this privacy policy periodically and become aware of modifications.
9. Your Acceptance of These Terms
By using this App, you signify your acceptance of this policy. If you do not agree to this policy, please do not use our App. Your continued use of the App following the posting of changes to this policy will be deemed your acceptance of those changes.
